Manager's Message - Winter 2012

As we welcome another “season” here in southwest Florida, we look forward to welcoming YOU back to the area very soon!

During the fall maintenance weeks, we painted the interiors in Buildings A, B and C, which completed interior painting in all buildings.  The new color scheme is light and airy. The living room vertical blinds were replaced in all buildings with a sheer curtain and black-out drapes, and wood plantation shutters were installed in the dining room window in the outside units. You may adjust the drapes and shutters to allow for the lighting and privacy levels of your liking. Dishwashers and washer and dryer units were replaced in buildings F and G.

A model unit of dining room and living room furniture is on order. Photos will be posted as soon as the furniture is received. I’m looking forward to getting owner feedback on the model and sharing that with The Board of Directors before the final decision is made for the entire resort.

Just a reminder that in order for the new Calphalon non-stick frying pans to last, they cannot go in the dishwasher; they must be hand washed and no scrub pads or metal utensils should be used on them. Please help us to ensure these guidelines are followed so that we can make these pans last.

The Tortuga cookbooks are selling fast and we have a limited quantity left.  Contact the resort office to get one before they’re all gone!  The proceeds have greatly helped our Beautification Fund.

The Dunes membership fee came in at $85.87 per unit week. Tortuga owners pay 70% of what a Dunes Full Family Member pays.

The 2012 Annual Meeting will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the resort’s Club House.  We encourage all owners to participate.  If you are unable to attend the meeting in person, please vote your ballot/proxy either online or by mail.  We were disappointed to only have a 47% return at last year’s Annual Meeting and hope to get greater owner participation this year.  Thank you for your interest in your Association.

Special Notice:

Tortuga Beach Club will be under construction to remodel the kitchens in building E (units 133-140) May 18 - May 25, 2012, and in building D (units 125-132) May 25 - June 1, 2012. The buildings under construction will be completely unoccupied. During this period there will be saws, workers and a dumpster for demolition. There will also be construction vehicles near building E and several painters' vehicles coming in and out of the property. We will try to keep the noise to a minimum, but there may be times when it may be loud. The contractor, maintenance staff and housekeeping staff will be on a very tight schedule.

In addition, we will be painting the exterior of the resort starting week 20 through week 23 (May 18 - June 15, 2012).

We apologize for any inconvenience during this time.



Owner Participation at Board Meetings:

Please be advised that all owners are welcome to attend board meetings, but if you want to speak at the board meetings, you must sign up 24 hours in advance of the board meeting at the resort office.
